Meet the Doctor
Dr. Amit Kumar received his bachelor’s and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Boston University as part of Seven Year Medical Program, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. His internship was in Medicine and Surgery at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. He was selected for Ophthalmology Residency at University Medical Center/State University of New York, Stony Brook program in Long Island at the Nassau. He served as Chief Resident during his final year.
Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Kumar went on to do a fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology and worked with world renowned ophthalmologist, Dr. Daniel Albert.at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He then pursued further specialization by completing two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at University of Texas, prior to opening his practice in Cary, NC. Dr Kumar lives with his wife and 2 beautiful children in Cary. When not working, Dr Kumar enjoys playing golf and traveling with his family.

Anita Kumar - Business Administrator
Anita Kumar, received her Bachelor’s in science from NYIT and subsequentially completing her MBA from Seton Hall University.
Anita is an experienced and performance-driven business leader with a demonstrated history of success in the healthcare industry. She brings in 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, management, and business development. She is skilled in providing seamless workflow in our busy office and driving initiatives focused on raising productivity and Healthcare standards. She is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and supervision to all office staff including compliance, staffing, on-boarding, training, mentoring, performance reporting, and financial management for all practice operations.
Anita lives in Cary with her husband and her two beautiful children. During her spare time, she spends time reading, cooking, and traveling with her family.
The Reception Staff
When you enter CRI, you will be received by our very friendly receptionists, Danielle Devery & Tracy Baumgardner and Surgery Coordinator, Elizabeth Brogan. They are Patient-Centric, detailed oriented and very personable and courteous. They also have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They are solution focused to help find resolutions to the various questions/concerns that the patients may have.
The Clinical Technicians
Our Clinical technicians, Angela Hoover, Melissa Jones, Cyndi Quezada and Liliana Perez have over 30 years of Ophthalmology experience combined. They are skilled medical professionals who work alongside Dr. Kumar to perform initial portion of the patient’s eye examination, which involves taking the patient history, reviewing patient’s medications, checking visual acuity, measuring interocular pressure and performing various types of special eye testing.
