About Me
Dr. Amit Kumar received his bachelor’s and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Boston University as part of Seven Year Medical Program, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. His internship was in Medicine and Surgery at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. He was selected for Ophthalmology Residency at University Medical Center/State University of New York, Stony Brook program in Long Island at the Nassau. He served as Chief Resident during his final year.
Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Kumar went on to do a fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology and worked with world renowned ophthalmologist, Dr. Daniel Albert.at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He then pursued further specialization by completing two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at University of Texas, prior to opening his practice in Cary, NC. Dr Kumar lives with his wife and 2 beautiful children in Cary. When not working, Dr Kumar enjoys playing golf and traveling with his family.
